Out of hibernation

With so much going on this summer, I haven't had the time to bake let alone update the blog. I've even had to turn down cupcake work! Eeek! Things are looking up though - there's some free time on the horizon and I'm feeling the baking itch.

Need to get my hands on some flour and fondant!

I've just started on my first project after this long hiatus. Feels good. Photos to follow, but in the meantime, here's some pictures of some of my older work. Xoxo!

♥ Mom and Dad

A dozen double-duty cupcakes for a well-rounded mom and an outdoorsy dad. It's good to have hobbies.

I love how the little logs turned out for this one! Sometimes the fondant just speaks to me...

Love!

I love it when I'm given creative freedom with cupcake themes! These are quite possibly my favorite cupcake creations of all time!

Elephantastic

For a mom-to-be who chose a cute lavender elephant theme for her shower.

Cute little fondant elephants with edible luster dust.

The best chocolate cake ever! With chocolate buttercream nom nom...

And a shout out to my lovely gym partner Karen A. for commissioning these cupcakes and for making a most beautiful display for this shower! I'd definitely let her plan any of my parties!

Sheri Potter and the Goblet of Wine?

After a long baking hiatus, I'm back!
One of my besties, Sheri, had a fantastic 26th birthday celebration last night and I decided to give her the gift of cupcakes!  For those of you who don't know us very well, we're both diehard Harry Potter fans and complete winos. So I chose those as a theme, and created cupcake magic! Get it? Magic? ...

Red wine cake with a red wine and butter glaze, topped with cream cheese (and wine) frosting (I was seriously trying to cram that entire bottle into this recipe). Booze and baking? Ah-ma-zing!

I heart weddings

A favor for a sweet little wedding planner I know. Just a dozen each of red velvet with cream cheese frosting, vanilla with white buttercream, and chocolate with chocolate buttercream. Oh, and some simple white sugar blossoms to top them off.

Simple but elegant, no? It's been a while since I've had the opportunity to bake (what with school crushing my soul and all) so it felt good to be milling around in the kitchen all day.

Also, I've found my new standard for chocolate cupcakes! Amazing little gem of a recipe. Very exciting stuff...for me at least. So it's safe to say that these taste even better than they look. I never said I was modest.
